Skinning Ideas Part 1: Proxy skin

Skin Cages Hi everyone hope your week is going great. Here's a great little technique for rigging a complicated mesh. I have a shot where a spider needs to land in a web causing the web to stretch. This is simple using proxy geo cage, and regular skinning. First make a simple plane we can use as the proxy geo. I've added a centre joint and a joint for moving the web around. I skin that new mesh it like the gif below. I then copy the weights of my proxy --> the mesh. Boom! One important take away is to make sure you use the same joint influences other wise it probably wont work. Another great thing is this will work in game engines as well. Can be a great alternative to deformers such as FFDs. As usual hit me up if you need anything. Jason
